Serena Williams was initially determined to get Taylor Swift’s autograph for her daughter at the 2025 Super Bowl but held off as it became clear the pop superstar’s boyfriend Travis Kelce wasn’t going to emerge victorious.
Williams, 43, revealed in a new interview with Time published on April 16 that she and husband Alexis Ohanian were hoping to take her daughter Olympia to meet Swift, 35, in her suite as the singer supported Kelce and the Chiefs.
But when the Philadelphia Eagles started putting the Chiefs’ three-peat hopes further and further out of reach as the game went on, Williams decided not to bother Swift as the “So High School” singer nervously watched the game.

“I’m such a mom,” Williams, who welcomed her second daughter Adira with Ohanian in August 2023, told Time. “I was ready to go in here myself and be like, ‘Taylor, come get this girl.’ ”
However, “It’s hard when your team is losing,” said Williams of her decision not to ask Swift for the autograph, adding, “I totally get it.”
Williams also spoke to Time about fans at the Caesar’s Superdome booing Swift when she was shown on the jumbotron. “Why would you boo her? That’s so mean. That’s just awful,” Williams said.
The tennis star’s interview also shed light on her relationship with Ohanian, who she married in 2017. “My husband and I, we’re so in a different space,” she said of their relationship.
“We’re so connected, we’re so in love, we’re just, like, trying to get our daughter Taylor Swift autographs. And nothing else.”
After Swift was booed by fans at the game on Feb. 9, Williams took to X to tell the “Karma” singer not to worry about the haters. “I love you @taylorswift 13 don’t listen to those booo!!” Williams wrote in her post.
Williams faced some backlash at the Super Bowl for her cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, where the tennis star crip walked during the rapper’s performance of “Not Like Us” — his diss track for Drake.
Many viewers assumed the cameo from Williams, who briefly dated Drake around 2011, was intended to shade the “Hotline Bling” rapper, but Williams told Time on Wednesday that it wasn’t.
“Absolutely not,” she said, adding that she would “never do that.”

From that moment, everything began to unfold into a long story of overlooked records, lingering unanswered questions, and a determined search for the answers her family had been waiting for for years.

The day I signed the divorce papers, I thought that would be the most painful moment, until he walked out and immediately filed for a new marriage, as if I had never existed. I quietly ended my working arrangement with my sister-in-law to keep my dignity intact. But that night, 77 calls came flooding in, and my in-laws’ line about “55 billion dollars a year” kept repeating like a warning. That’s when I realized this was no longer private.

My 11-year-old daughter came home, but her key wouldn’t work, so she stood there for a long time trying to stay out of the rain. Then my mother stepped outside and said, simply, “We’ve all agreed. From now on, you and your mom don’t belong here.” I didn’t argue. I just said, “Understood.” Three days later, my mother received a letter, went pale as she read it, and everything took a turn no one saw coming.

I pretended I was broke and asked my millionaire children for help, hoping for a little warmth. But all I got back was distance and cold words, and I walked away feeling completely alone. That night, my poorest son opened his door to me, shared everything he could, and quietly reminded me what real family looks like. His silent kindness taught me a lesson about love, character, and respect that I will never forget.

Our engagement dinner suddenly turned into a suffocating moment when my future mother-in-law, the wife of a powerful CEO, kept bragging about her “prestigious” family name, mocked my past, and deliberately humiliated me right in front of everyone. But before I could get a single word out, my mother stood up, looked her straight in the eye, and calmly said just one sentence, and the entire room fell into silence.

In a quiet neighborhood coffee shop, a rude man mocked a 78-year-old widow, tossing out cutting remarks and trying to humiliate her in front of everyone, convinced she was alone and would stay silent. She didn’t argue. She barely said a word. She simply lifted her phone. Minutes later, her son walked in, a Navy SEAL home on leave. What happened next wasn’t loud or chaotic, but it was a firm lesson in respect that shifted the entire room in a matter of moments.
