Formula 1 is welcoming a new kind of contender — and this time, Hollywood is riding shotgun.

Keanu Reeves has been confirmed as the face of a brand-new behind-the-scenes documentary series chronicling Cadillac’s high-stakes journey to the Formula 1 grid, offering unprecedented access to one of the most ambitious projects the sport has seen in decades.

Backed by TWG Motorsports and automotive giant General Motors, Cadillac is officially preparing to enter Formula 1 in 2026 after receiving final approval in March to become the sport’s 11th team. Now, for the first time, fans will get a raw, inside look at what it actually takes to build an F1 team from scratch — under intense pressure, on an accelerated timeline, and with the eyes of the racing world watching.

The docuseries will follow Cadillac Formula 1 Team from its earliest planning stages through to its highly anticipated debut at the 2026 season opener in Melbourne, Australia. Cameras will be embedded deep inside the operation, capturing the chaos, ambition, setbacks, and breakthroughs that come with entering one of the most exclusive and unforgiving arenas in global sport.

Reeves isn’t just narrating the story — he’s shaping it.

Through his production company KR+SH, Reeves will partner with North One as both host and executive producer, marking his latest move in motorsport storytelling after his Emmy-winning success with Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story on Disney+. That series was widely praised for its depth, access, and emotional pull — and expectations for this new project are already sky-high.

The Cadillac series will be developed by Emmy-winning director Simon Hammerson and three-time BAFTA-winning executive producer Neil Duncanson, a powerhouse creative team signaling that this won’t be a glossy promo — but a serious, cinematic deep dive.

According to early details, the series promises an “intimate look” at the extraordinary challenge of assembling a competitive Formula 1 team on a compressed timeline, while also telling the larger story behind Cadillac’s mission: establishing a distinctly American presence in a sport historically dominated by European powerhouses.

That mission alone sets the stage for drama.

Formula 1 has expanded rapidly in the U.S. in recent years, but an American-backed team with factory-level ambition represents something entirely new. Cadillac’s arrival isn’t just about racing — it’s about identity, credibility, and proving that American engineering can thrive at motorsport’s highest level.

Reeves, a longtime motorsport enthusiast, said he felt honored to help tell that story.

“I’m very honored and excited to be a part of telling the remarkable Cadillac Formula 1 Team story and its incredible journey into the world of Formula 1 racing,” Reeves said. “Our goal with the docuseries is to bring audiences into the heart of this journey and showcase what it takes to participate in one of the most exclusive sports arenas in the world.”

For TWG Motorsports, the partnership feels like a perfect fit.

“This is a story of bold ambition and relentless drive,” said CEO Dan Towriss. “We’re honored to work with Keanu, whose passion and knowledge of racing runs deep, and proud to partner with GM on this incredible story.”

Towriss added that the series isn’t just about documenting a team — it’s about expanding Formula 1’s reach. “We have an opportunity to welcome a new generation of fans to Formula 1, and Keanu’s creativity is the perfect spark to ignite that journey.”

General Motors leadership echoed that sentiment, framing the project as a defining moment for American motorsport.

“General Motors and TWG Motorsports joined forces on a bold mission — to build a uniquely American Formula 1 team,” said GM President Mark Reuss. “It’s a thrill to have Keanu Reeves document the Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s journey to our first season in the FIA Formula One World Championship.”

While much of the spotlight is on storytelling, major competitive questions remain unanswered. Cadillac has yet to announce either of its two drivers for the 2026 season, a decision that will undoubtedly fuel speculation as the debut approaches.

The team will initially run Ferrari power units when it enters Formula 1, before transitioning to its own engines in the future — another storyline likely to play out on screen as Cadillac works to establish itself among the sport’s elite.

The documentary series is expected to air ahead of the Melbourne Grand Prix in March 2026, positioning it as a must-watch primer before Cadillac officially hits the grid.

One thing is already clear: Formula 1’s next chapter won’t just be written on the track — it will be captured on camera, narrated by Keanu Reeves, and driven by one of the boldest entries the sport has seen in years.
