Timothee Chalamet was glaringly absent from a star-studded trailer launch for his new movie Dune: Part Three in Los Angeles on Tuesday – two days after being mocked and snubbed at the Academy Awards.
The 30-year-old was an early best actor favorite for Marty Supreme, the Josh Safdie picture based on the life of a real underground ping-pong player in 1950s New York.
However, his pomposity in interviews eventually led to a souring of public opinion about him, with sources exclusively telling the Daily Mail about a ‘Stop Timmy’ campaign gathering steam ahead of the Academy Awards.
Chalamet, whose mother and sister both trained in ballet, then poured fuel on the backlash by remarking that ‘no one cares about’ opera and ballet.
Oscar night became a brutal humiliation for Chalamet, who was repeatedly mocked over the comment and then lost best actor to Michael B. Jordan for Sinners.
Two days later, a slew of his co-stars in Dune: Part Three – including Zendaya and Robert Pattinson – gathered for the trailer launch at the AMC Century City, but Chalamet himself did not appear in person and instead recorded a video message.

Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, director Denis Villeneuve, Anya Taylor-Joy and Javier BArdem were all in attendance at Tuesday’s trailer launch
Pattinson, Zendaya and their castmates Anya Taylor-Joy and Javier Bardem were all on hand at Tuesday’s event to unveil the sneak peek at the picture.
Based on the 1960s sci-fi novels by Frank Herbert, the Dune trilogy has featured a dazzling array of stars including Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson and Austin Butler.
Although Chalamet had been in town for the Oscars just two days prior to the trailer launch, he appeared at Tuesday’s trailer launch only virtually via video message.
‘After two impactful films with an in-development process that started in the [mid-2010s], a production process that started in 2018 and over 150 production days across the three films at large, today we are debuting the trailer to Dune: Part Three,’ he said in the clip, according to People.
The Call Me By Your Name star added: ‘This film would not exist without the master of cinema, the great artist that is Denis Villeneuve.’
He hailed the director for the ‘true act of cinema’ he had achieved with the movie, concluding the video by saying: ‘I’m not alone in saying thank you to Denis for his dedication in bringing the Dune films to life and now the Dune trilogy to life. I hope you enjoy this first sneak peek at Dune: Part Three.’
In the trailer, Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides is seen preparing for the arrival of twins with his love interest Chani, played by Zendaya.
Paul, who began the trilogy as a prince and is now an emperor, debuts a baldheaded look in the trailer while rallying a throng of his subjects.

After Chalamet’s crushing defeat at Sunday night’s Oscars, he was seen clinging to his girlfriend Kylie Jenner at the boozy Vanity Fair afterparty.
He has been dating Jenner for three years and thanked her profusely onstage when he won at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.
The Lady Bird actor was unable to entirely conceal his disappointment Sunday night as he watched Michael B. Jordan take the stage to collect the best actor trophy.

Nevertheless he managed to clap while Jordan hugged his mother Donna and made his way up to the microphone to deliver a tearful speech.
‘Thank you, everybody in this room and everybody at home for supporting me over my career. I feel it,’ the Black Panther heartthrob said.
‘I know you guys want me to do well, and I want to do that because you guys bet on me, so thank you for keeping betting on me, and I’m going to keep stepping up and I’m going to keep being the best version of myself I can be.’
After Chalamet lost the Oscar last year for his Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, he was forthright about his disgruntlement in Vogue.
‘If there’s five people at an awards show, and four people go home losing, you don’t think those four people are at the restaurant like: “Damn, we didn’t win?”‘ he said.
‘I’ve been around some deeply generous, no-ego actors, and maybe some of them are going: “That was fun.” But I know for a fact a lot of them are going: “F***!”‘
